Bird in the hand (by Steve Key (c) 2006)

Got a bird in the hand
A sweet lover in my bed
Got another I know
I'm thinking of instead
Temptation calls
From a greener land
But then I’d have to let go
Of this bird in the hand

Got a hole in my heart
Where the doubt seeps in
Got a sad history
Of unoriginal sin
My sweet, sweet bird
Sings to me with the dawn
But in my sleepless night
I can hear another song

And she sings to me,
Telling me what I’m missin’
And I know I shouldn’t listen, but I do
And she sings to me
Like a siren from the shore
Saying “You deserve more, don’t you?”

Got a bird in the hand
I curl up in her nest
She believes in me
Truer than the rest
I don't trust myself
To do the best I can
But I don't want to let go
Of this bird in the hand
